Second-period lull leads to Showcase loss versus Trail
ABBOTSFORD — The Nanaimo Clippers started well in their morning contest against the Trail Smoke Eaters, but couldn’t sustain it.
Tanner Bruender opened the scoring at the BCHL Showcase game with a power-play wrist shot, but then the offence went quiet.
Erik Pastro equalized the game on a first-period man advantage for the Smoke Eaters and then Louis Jonerheim connected twice in the middle to put Trail in command.
The Clippers mustered only three second-period shots and had only nine in the first 40 minutes.
