Clippers put up big second period, blank Rivermen

NANAIMO — The Clippers had the their most dominant game of the young season with a 5-0 victory over the Langley Rivermen.

The team was led offensively by two goals an an assist for Hayden Fechner and defensively Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau recorded a 26 save shutout.

The Clippers led 1-0 after one and 5-0 after 40 minutes and then cruised to victory from there.

Nanaimo’s power play was impressive with Fechner, Jack Rimmer and Elliot Perreault all scoring on the man advantage which went 3/6.

The Clippers also killed off Langley’s only two power power plays while outshooting the Rivermen 38-26.

Justin Collins opened the scoring for Nanaimo with his second goal of the season, and Perreault’s tally now gives him a goal in all three Clipper games this season.

The Clippers don’t play again until Oct. 3 when they visit the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Nanaimo will play the Bulldogs for the third time this year on Oct. 4 at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
