Highway 19 bridge deck repairs to impact Oceanside area traffic

PARKSVILLE — Crews will soon embark on bridge deck repairs on the Inland Island Hwy. between the Big Qualicum River and Englishman River crossings.

Mainroad Mid-Island Contracting, which maintains regional highways on behalf of the B.C. government, states the bridge deck repairs will be done from Monday Sept. 8 to Sept. 17 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Drivers are being told to expect lane closures during the work schedule.

In addition, a more localized project involves Mainroad crews replacing a culvert on Smithers Rd. in Parksville from Monday Sept 8 to Sept. 19 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Mainroad Mid-Island Contracting states a small portion of the road adjacent to the Alberni Hwy. will be closed between Fairdowne Rd. and 1165 Smithers Rd., however local residents have been informed they will have uninterpreted access to their properties.
