Qualicum Beach holding ‘Cry Off’ competition to find new Town Crier
QUALICUM BEACH — A rare opportunity to become the voice of a community has opened up in Oceanside.
The Town of Qualicum Beach is seeking a volunteer to take on the role of Town Crier to represent the Town at various events, participate in ceremonies, and of course, make public announcements.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to take part in a “Cry Off” competition on Oct. 1 at a special council meeting, where they’ll be tasked with creating a general “town cry” specific to the community.
Qualifications include being at least 18 years old, having a strong and captivating speaking voice, be an engaged and enthusiastic community member, being able to attend various events, and having reliable transportation.
