‘Violent and unpredictable’ man wanted by Nanaimo RCMP

NANAIMO — Local Mounties are searching for a man wanted on numerous charges related to violent crimes.

Twenty-five year old Eric Daniel Kivell Jr. faces charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breach of court orders stemming from an alleged incident on Jan. 24, 2025.

Kivell is accused of assaulting a City of Nanaimo bylaw officer with a pole during an altercation at a local homeless encampment.

He was due in court in mid-April, but failed to appear, leading to a warrant being issued.

Kivell is also facing another assault with a weapon charge from January 2024.

“Kivell should be considered violent and unpredictable,” Nanaimo RCMP stated in a release.

He’s described as 5’11” tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police say the attached picture is recent.
