Man sentenced for brutal Nanaimo sidewalk assault
NANAIMO — A man charged with violently attacking another man on a Nanaimo sidewalk last fall will spend more time behind bars.
Brent Giles George Houle, 45, was sentenced for aggravated assault in B.C. provincial court on Friday, May 16, and handed a further 466 days in jail (15 months and nine days) for the vicious Oct. 8, 2024, assault.
He received credit for time served, shaving considerable time off his two-year provincial jail sentence after pleading guilty to the offence.
Police say around 10:30 a.m. that morning, a man, believed to be unhoused, was attacked by Houle in the 100 block of Nicol St. outside a tattoo studio, causing serious injuries to the victim.
