Senior Mountie charged with Ladysmith driving offence
NANAIMO — An RCMP officer has been charged with driving without due care and attention following an incident in Ladysmith last year.
A BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) news release states the charge against Staff Sgt. Steven Michael Perret relates to an incident in Ladysmith on June 1, 2024.
The BCPS later revealed to NanaimoNewsNOW the case in question involved the officer being on duty at the time.
The BCPS would not reveal additional information about Perret’s alleged driving misconduct, while the investigating agency into the case, BC Highway Patrol, won’t comment to protect the integrity of the judicial process.
