NDP rally at Friendship Centre

Local NDP candidate Gord Johns held a rally on Friday at the Port Alberni Friendship Centre.

The event featured popular retiring MP Charlie Angus from Timmins – James Bay who spoke about the importance of this election and Prime Ministerial race.

Johns encouraged the more than 150 supporters in attendance to combat right-wing negativity online, and ensure their friends and family vote on election day.

Johns said he was disappointed his Conservative Party challenger is refusing to attend all-candidates meetings, comparing the election campaign to a job interview, and called the strategy “disrespectful” to the voters in Courtenay-Alberni.

Conservative candidate Kris McNichol skipped a recent event in Comox and has already announced he will not be attending the Port Alberni All-Candidates meeting on Tuesday at 6pm at the RimRock Casino.
