Apr 6, 2025 | 12:10 AM

DUNCAN — The Clippers have been one shot away from getting their first playoff win – twice.

Instead the Cowichan Valley Capitals took the first two games of the all Island BCHL playoff series with consecutive overtime victories.

In Game 1 it was Luca Primerano converting a pass from in front, in Game 2 it was Camden Bajzer on a deflection that earned the Capitals the wins.

The bulk of the scoring in Game 2 happened in the first period.

Patrick Fortune gave the Clippers an early lead a minute and a half into the game.

Then Cowichan notched power play markers with Gavin Giesbrecht and Nicolas Beaudoin getting the goals.

Fortune had a man advantage marker of his own and 40 seconds later Mitchell Patrick stole a puck in tight to give Nanaimo a 3-2 lead.

Vladimir Nikitin and the Capitals Dylan Krick were almost unbeatable in net from that point forward.

The only other goal in regulation time was late in the second period when Carter Dekay found the back of the net on Nikitin’s glove side.

After a back and forth overtime Bajzer tipped in a point shot with just under two minutes remaining.

The Capitals outshot the Clippers 46-37 with Nanaimo going 1/2 on the man advantage and 2/4 on the penalty kill.

In nine games combined in the regular season and playoffs the Clippers and Capitals have gone to overtimes four times.

Nanaimo will play.a virtual must win game at home on Apr. 8 as they look to jump back into the series.

Game 4 will be played on Apr. 9 also at Frank Crane Arena.
