Clippers beat high flying Eagles, take points in eighth straight home game

Mar 7, 2025 | 10:30 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers erased a two period deficit to earn a win for just the fourth time this season in a 4-3 triumph over the Surrey Eagles.

Surrey had leads of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 but Nanaimo’s best players took over in the third period.

The Clippers Patrick Fortune, on the power play, and Makaio Van Tassel erased those two deficits but it was Cole Lonsdale that scored the game changing goal early in the third period.

Lonsdale tied the game 3-3 after doing a full lap of the offensive zone and rifling a shot behind netminder Maddox Osaka.

Dylan Kinch netted the game winner on a Clipper power play with just over eight minute left in the game.

Sihwan Kim scored two goals in the loss for Surrey but Clipper goalie Vladimir Nikitin stood tall in net upping his record to 7-2 on the season.

Nanaimo outshot the Eagles 30-27 and went 2/4 on the man advantage while not having to kill a single penalty.

The Clippers win broke a three game losing streak and extended their home ice point streak to 7-0-1 since Jan. 10.

The Clippers next travel to the Q Centre to face the Victoria Grizzlies on Mar. 8.
