NANAIMO — A tight low scoring game turned into a thriller at Frank Crane Arena with the Clippers winning 5-4 in OT versus the Grizzlies.

Reegan Hiscock and Dylan Kinch traded first period goals with Kinch tying the game for Nanaimo on a power play in the final minute.

Seamus Latta grabbed the only goal of the second period to put Victoria up through 40 minutes.

In the final frame Tanner Bruender tied the game at two before fast goals by the Grizzlies Jacksenn Hungle and another by Latta in a 50 second span seemed to give Victoria control.

Nanaimo fought back with makers from Chase Hull and Makaio Van Tassel with just 81 seconds left in regulation time.

Right off the opening faceoff of overtime Vladimir Nikitin made a huge save to set up a Clippers transition chance which was buried by Dylan Kinch just 16 seconds into the extra session.

Kinch finished with two goals and an assist to give him the team lead with 52 points.

Niktin got his third straight win in a Clipper uniform with the Grizzlies holding a 43-31 shot advantage.

Nanaimo went 1/2 on the power play while the Grizzlies were 0/3.

The Clippers finished January with a 6-2 record and they start February with a game on the first in Alberni Valley at 7 p.m.
