Forest Minister visits Alberni
BC’s Forests Minister Ravi Parmar is in Port Alberni today.
The 30-year old MLA from Langford will be hosting a forestry roundtable with local leaders to hear about issues affecting the industry.
He said while the softwood lumber fight is his priority in his dealings with Ottawa, his real priorities are community based.
“I’ve got three priorities: I want to restore confidence in BC’s forest sector, I want to stand up for workers each and every day and make sure that they are front and center in all the decisions we make, and I want to make sure that we live up to our commitments around biodiversity, reconciliation, and the declaration on the rights of Indigenous peoples,” he said.
