LADYSMITH — A second public workshop scheduled this week will help shape the future of refreshed skatepark in Ladysmith.

The public engagement event happens on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6:15 p.m. at Frank Jameson Community Centre’s lower level regarding plans to overhaul the skatepark located next door.

Three proposed designs for the skatepark will be on display at the event, while an online survey is also guiding the Town’s goal of reshaping the amenity.

The online survey is available via the Town’s Let’s Talk Ladysmith page starting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and will be open until Jan. 2.

A town news release stated it is advancing a feasibility study to assess what’s needed currently and the future, and to determine construction costs.

…“the time has come for a new skatepark design that’s fresh, inclusive for skaters, bikers, and riders of all levels,” stated a Town of Ladysmith news release.

Contractor New Line Skatepark is working with the Town of Ladysmith for a new skatepark design intended to be inclusive and user friendly.

More information on the project is available here.

A final concept design and budget for Town council’s consideration is expected to be revealed next month.

The existing skatepark in Ladysmith opened in 1999 and was upgraded in 2011.
