PARKSVILLE — Blustery conditions are expected to persist through much of the day, prompting a formal warning from Environment Canada.

The weather office issued a wind warning for eastern Vancouver Island from Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, encompassing areas around Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

“A Pacific frontal system moving across Vancouver Island will produce strong southeasterly winds,” the warning reads. “The strong winds ease this afternoon when the front weakens.”

Winds are expected to be from the southeast at around 70 kilometres per hour, gusting to 90 kilometres per hour over exposed coastal sections.
