Port Alberni RCMP are releasing some details surrounding the disappearance of Amber Manthorne two years ago.
A video from the Husky Gas Station on Third Avenue shows her former boyfriend Justin Hall pulling in and attempting to rearrange a suitcase and a large tote in the back of her Jeep Compass.
In the shot is a large black tote that has not been recovered and could have contained her body.
Port Alberni RCMP Sgt Chet Carroll said it’s a possibility but can’t be confirmed until they find the tote.
“We can’t say that her body was in the tote, but we don’t wan’t to ignore the fact that it has never been recovered,” he said. “You want to be open to all the possibilities, but we don’t know that absolutely.”
Carroll said Hall, who died last year, remains their only suspect, but police remain committed to getting answers for Manthorne’s family.
Anyone with information on the tote, Amber’s celphone, or saw Hall’s movements around the Alberni Valley on July 7th, 2022 is urged to contact Port Alberni RCMP.
