Weekend wildfire sparked on Mt. Arrowsmith not considered a threat at this time
UPDATE — As of 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, the Lockwood Creek wildfire is now classified as being held and has been reduced from two hectares to 1.14, and is not predicted to move beyond the control lines at this time.
EARLIER — PARKSVILLE — The Coastal Fire Centre is reminding Island residents to stay vigilant despite cooler and wetter conditions after a wildfire was sparked over the weekend.
Located in the Mr. Arrowsmith region, the Lockwood Creek wildfire was approximately two hectares in size as the morning of Monday, Sept. 23, discovered Sunday evening at less than a hectare in size and currently classified as burning out-of-control.
Information officer Kimberly Kelly said the fire is located in a remote area.
