Courtenay – Alberni MP Gord Johns said the NDP’s ripping up of the Supply & Confidence Agreement with the Liberal Government changes little

He said while the agreement forced the minority liberals to adopt NDP priorities like the National Dental Care Program, pharmacare, affordable housing, and school lunch programs, that work will still continue.

“I’m staying focussed on the coming session on ensuring these key issues are fully delivered and this means that I’m not going to get sucked in by the conservative and Pierre Pollievre gong show,” he said. “What it really means for parliament now that there is no supply and confidence agreement, it means we will be back to work doing the normal running of a minority parliament, negotiating in committees and in the House of Commons on a vote-by-vote basis. Forcing a third election in three years really isn’t high on my list. It’s helping people right now, today.”

Johns said he remains focused on the housing crisis, climate crisis and toxic drug crisis, and bringing infrastructure funding to west coast communities.
