Remediation work at the former Somass Mill site is continuing this summer, and is under budget according to the City.

According to a note posted on social media, the first phase of the clean-up is now complete, and a Certificate of Compliance has been issued by the Province of B.C. saying contaminated property has been satisfactorily remediated.

With costs coming in less than anticipated, the City says they are working across the entire site to better inform the future development.

Funded in part by a $1 million dollar grant from the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program, the City also contributed more than $300,000 to the project.
