Overdose Alert issued

Island Health issued a drug poisoning alert for Port Alberni yesterday, after higher rates of drug poisonings were being seen in the community.

Port Alberni Fire Department Deputy Chief Travis Cross said there were 27 call-outs yesterday with at least 7 overdoses,
including three within an hour.

He said one call was for a group of people who had all overdosed together from the toxic drugs.

Comox and Campbell River posted drug poisoning alerts late last week.
