Jan 8, 2024 | 9:15 AM

Foundation for Artistic Expression, a Canadian non-profit organization committed to uniting all communities, through artistic expression, to provide accessible and available resources for mental health.

By providing a platform that creates spaces for everyone to belong and contribute on their own terms, the organization is playing a pivotal role in addressing the mental well-being of Canadians.

F.A.E. firmly believes that unity, equality, and equity are the cornerstones of a vibrant, healthy society.

In an era marked by social and cultural diversity, the organization is dedicated to creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, valued, and empowered to give back to their communities.

This approach, rooted in inclusivity, has a profound impact on mental health, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among individuals from all walks of life.

One of F.A.E.’s key initiatives is its community-based fundraiser called IGNITE, which will be coming to Nanaimo’s Vancouver Island Conference Centre on September 14, 2024, IGNITE2024 Nature Nurture: A Mental Health Gala for Vulnerable Youth.

IGNITE2024 strives to unite Nanaimo community members for an evening that showcases local talent and raises awareness for two programs/organizations dedicated to supporting vulnerable youth in the Nanaimo area.

The event also aims to foster community awareness regarding the impact of mental health on our youth.

This year’s donor recipients are Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools – Learning Alternatives School and the Take A Hike Foundation – Nanaimo.

The Vancouver Island Conference Centre will undergo a stunning transformation, embracing this year’s theme to immerse guests in an unforgettable evening where the cause remains consistently at the forefront.

Attendees will gather for a remarkable experience filled with cocktails, appetizers, entertainment, dancing, and more.

Throughout the evening, they will encounter a perfect blend of heartfelt compassion, unparalleled entertainment, and sheer enjoyment, ensuring a truly memorable and impactful event.

With a creative touch, an incredible ensemble of volunteer musicians, dancers, models, and more, supported by local makeup artists, and hairstylists, the community will unite together in the spirit of giving back and IGNITING the spotlight on mental health.

“We are on a mission to break down barriers and build bridges,” said Mariel Anderson, Founder & Executive Director at Foundation for Artistic Expression. “Mental health is a universal concern, and we believe that everyone deserves the support and resources they need to thrive. Our approach is rooted in the principles of inclusion, equality, and equity, ensuring that no one is left behind on their journey toward positive mental health.”
