Doctors recruited through billboards

Island Health is placing billboards and bus ads across Canada in an attempt to attract medical professionals to Port Alberni.

Billboards have been spotted at Calgary Airport and outside Toronto Pearson, as well as on buses in Edmonton.

Island Health has also paid for recruitment videos and editorial columns to attract doctors and nurses to Tofino, Alert Bay, Port Alice, Port Hardy and Port McNeil as well.

Recently, more than a dozen new medical professionals were hired at West Coast General.
