Clippers win 5-1 in Langley to even series with Rivermen

NANAIMO — The Clippers responded to back to back losses in their series with Langley by recording a statement 5-1 win in Game 4.

Nanaimo led 2-0 before the game was three minutes old on rebound goals by Skyler Cameron and Ethan Mistry.

By the 12 minute mark Kai Daniells had added two more goals including one on the power play to give the Clippers full control.

After Daniells 4-0 tally Langley starter, and the first star of Games 2 and 3, Ajeet Gundarah was pulled.

Affiliate Charlie Tritt played the final 48 minutes in the Rivermen crease.

Nanaimo added one more power play marker from Brody Waters in the second period to put the game out of reach.

Clipper goalie Shane Shelest stopped 30 of 31 shots in his playoff debut, losing his shutout with three minutes left in the game on a tap in goal by Andrej Kovacevic.

The final shots finished 38-31 for Nanaimo with the Clippers going 2/5 on the man advantage and a perfect three for three killing penalties.

It was a huge night for the Clippers top line of Daniells, Waters and Jake Hewitt as they combined for eight points in the victory.

Game 5 goes Thursday April 6 at Frank Crane Arena with Game 6 scheduled for April 8 at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
