VIDEO: Lantzville’s Dylan Ferguson earns first NHL win on Sens debut
NANAIMO — He had to wait years for his shot, but Dylan Ferguson is now officially an NHL goaltender.
The Lantzville-born and local minor hockey product started his first NHL game on Monday, March 20 as he led the Ottawa Senators into Pittsburgh, and a 2-1 win over the Penguins.
Ferguson was busy early as he turned aside 18 first period shots as Ottawa took a late period lead. Another 14 shots in the second period, then 17 in the third meant he was always in the game.
Pittsburgh tied the game in the third, before a late Senators powerplay goal helped seal the win. Ferguson stopped 48 of 49 in a 2-1 Ottawa win.
