NANAIMO — A large search is underway for a missing senior.

Elizabeth Gilchrist, 82-years-old, is believed to have wandered away from her home on the water side of Stephenson Point Rd. between the evening of Monday, Dec. 12 and the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Her daughter arrived at the home just before 11 a.m. Tuesday and immediately reported her missing.

“(The daughter) found the front door open and her mother missing,” O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW. “The daughter searched the area for about 30 minutes then called us.”

RCMP say Gilchrist has significant medical issues and there is a great deal of concern for her safety given her age and the current weather conditions.
