Arrest warrants piling up against Nanaimo based violent offender

Jul 6, 2022 | 1:10 PM

NANAIMO — Police hope the public can help them track down a Nanaimo man described as violent.

Seven arrest warrants ordered by provincial court judges are in effect against Michael Wayne Bonson, 34, who’s facing 10 charges for alleged crimes in Nanaimo and Duncan, court records showed.

Bonson was allegedly involved in a violent struggle with a Nanaimo RCMP officer during a Sept. 21, 2020 traffic stop in which police say Bronson broke free and drove off despite being tasered.

Two weeks prior North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP reported finding Bronson in a parked vehicle with illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, brass knuckles and an imitation firearm.

Half of the 10 charges against Bonson are for drug trafficking, while the other charges involve assault, fraud and weapons offences.

None of the allegations against Bonson have been proven in court.

Bonson is described as Caucasian, 5’11”, 180 pounds with short balding blonde hair. He’s known to have facial hair.

Anybody with information on Bonson’s whereabouts are asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2019-35462.
