Police incident delays start of BMO Vancouver Marathon by more than one hour
VANCOUVER — Runners in the BMO Vancouver Marathon were on their marks for longer than expected when a police incident delayed the start of the race.
Vancouver Police thanked runners for their patience as they responded to the incident near the marathon route, which closed large sections of the downtown core.
Police have not shared further information about the nature of the incident, saying only that it has been resolved.
The starting pistol was fired more than one hour after the scheduled 7 a.m. start time.
