Clippers blank Grizzlies 3-0 in regular season finale

NANAIMO — The Clippers played a solid 60 minutes in their final game on the BCHL schedule.

They scored one goal in every period to wrap up the regular season with a 3-0 shutout.

Kai Daniells scored in the first period and added a late empty netter and Michael Craig notched a power play goal in the middle period.

Goalie Cooper black recorded a 23 saves for his second shutout of the season in his last ever regular season junior hockey game.

Nanaimo outshot the Grizzlies 33-23 and finished 1/5 on the power play and 3/3 killing penalties.

The Clippers brought Craig, Charles Tardif and Austin Spiridakis back to the lineup for the contest after lengthy stints on the injured list, Tardif also had an assist in the victory.

The game was the final tune up for the BCHL playoffs which are likely to start on Apr. 1.

Nanaimo’s final win/loss record was 33-17-1-3 and they finished their seven game season series versus Victoria with a record of 5-1-1.

The Clippers will face either Surrey or Coquitlam but they won’t know their opponent until after the result of the Chiefs and Express matchup on March 26.

If Coquitlam wins Nanaimo will host the Express, and if Chilliwack wins the Clippers will host Surrey in round one.
