Daniells hat trick leads Clippers to 6-3 win over Chiefs

Mar 4, 2022 | 10:12 PM

NANAIMO — Kai Daniells scored the game winner and completed a hat trick with an empty netter as the Clippers used a strong third period to beat Chilliwack 6-3.

Daniells also scored in the second period.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first with Nanaimo goals going to Tristan Fraser shorthanded and Ethan Mistry.

It was still even after forty minutes as both teams notched a goal in the middle frame.

Chiefs starter Grant Riley pulled himself from the game with an apparent injury halfway through the contest to make way for backup Cole Savage.

Skyler Cameron was the other Clipper goal scorer in the third period on a night that truly belonged to Daniells.

Nanaimo was outshot 35-31 in the contest with the Clippers finishing 0/3 on the power play and 5/5 killing penalties.

Cooper Black was solid in net picking up his second win in a row since missing over a month with a lower body injury.

The Clippers finished their season series with Chilliwack with a 1-3 record.

They wrap up the weekend with a home game against the Surrey Eagles on March 6 at 2 p.m.
