New washroom, shower & laundry building part of key upgrades to Snaw-Naw-As campground
NANAIMO — A popular mid-Island campground will soon see some overdue improvements.
Snaw-Naw-As First Nation, through their Nanoose Economic Development Corporation, received $242,496 in provincial funding for key upgrades to their campsite.
Cindy Stern, board director for the corporation, told NanaimoNewsNOW the money will go towards replacing aging buildings and infrastructure.
“We knew we needed to replace the washroom/shower facility and the septic, all of that was failing. When we undertook that we applied for grants to do all the infrastructure upgrades, because they’re all 30 years old and in much need of updating.”
