COQUITLAM — The Clippers were firing on all cylinders in a 7-0 road win to start 2022.

Nine different players registered a point against the Express, led by Sean Donaldson with two goals and an assist and Charles Tardif with a pair of goals.

Cooper Black made 20 stops for his first shutout in the BCHL and earned his 16th win to sit in a tie for first place in victories by a goaltender.

The game was 1-0 after 20 minutes thank to a Charles Tardif rebound goal.

Two tallies by Donaldson and another by Max Itagaki broke the game open in the second period before Tardif, Austin Spiridakis and Tristan Fraser added three more in the final frame.

Donaldson’s markers were his 24th and 25th of the season to give him the league lead in goal scoring.

Nanaimo outshot Coquitlam 46-20 in the contest and went a tidy 2/7 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties.

The Jan. 2 three stars were 1) Max Itagaki 2) Sean Donaldson 3) Charles Tardif.

Nanaimo snapped a mini two game losing streak and will now head home to face the Coastal Division leading Langley Rivermen on Jan. 7.

Langley won the only other head to head meeting 5-3 on Nov. 13.
