COLWOOD — The last game of the calendar for the Clippers was a 4-2 road loss to the Grizzlies.

The Clippers scored the only goal of the first period when Sean Donaldson tallied his league leading 23rd off of a faceoff.

Victoria dominated the second frame with a pair of goals by Matthew Wood and another by Jackson Morehouse.

Wood’s second of the game was in the last minute and then Connor Eddy put the Grizzlies up 4-1 scoring in the first minute of the third period.

A power play deflection by Mateo Dixon, his first as a Clipper, made the game tighter late in the third but Victoria held on for the win.

The shots finished 42-40 for Nanaimo with Jed Baliotti taking his first first loss in net.

The Clippers went 1/5 on the man advantage and 2/2 on the penalty kill.

Nanaimo was also missing eight players from their lineup and dressed four affiliates.

The Dec 18 three stars were 1) Matthew Wood 2) Ellis Rickwood 3) Jackson Morehouse

Nanaimo finishes the first half of the season and the calendar year at 17-10 good for second in the Coastal Division.

The next Clippers action will be Sunday Jan. 2 in Coquitlam with a 3 p.m. faceoff.
