Valemount increasing water restrictions due to landslide threat
VALEMOUNT — The public is still advised to stay away near the Swift Creek area.
The Village of Valemount and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George said the landslide remains active and conditions may change suddenly.
Valemount sources its water for the community water system through Swift Creek. The village stated it’s important to be aware that the water source could be vulnerable to a slide. Anyone who relies on the Village of Valemount water system is asked to consider alternative water sources in the event the water system is unavailable.
The village will increase its water restrictions to level three effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 2).
