Nanaimo woman awaits sentence for defrauding local car dealership, several other offences

NANAIMO — More information will come to light about a woman who orchestrated a series of frauds and stole property valued at tens of thousands of dollars.

Stevie Daniele Pirart, 29, pleaded guilty last week in provincial court in Nanaimo to six charges, including defauding Steve Marshall Ford out of a Ford F-150 pickup in May 2019.

She pleaded guilty to stealing a rental van a month later and admitted to using a man’s credit card to stay at a resort in Sooke.

Nanaimo RCMP said the woman was found by police sleeping in the back of the U-Haul on June 20, 2019.

Pirart pleaded guilty to three other charges, while she elected to stand trial for two others.

She was scheduled to be sentenced during her recent court appearance, however her lawyer Cheyne Hodson successfully requested a pre-sentence report.

“It’s a strange situation that Ms. Pirart comes before the court with no criminal record, but as you can see there’s a fair number of charges,” Hodson said.

All of the offences Pirart pleaded guilty to occurred in 2019.

In February an arrest warrant was issued for the woman for missing a court appearance.

She’s currently not in custody.
