NANAIMO – A Nanaimo elementary school is on Island Health’s school exposure list for the first time.

SD68 announced late on Thursday, April 15, Pleasant Valley elementary school recorded a COVID-19 exposure event on Tuesday, April 13.

It’s the first exposure notice for the school.

It will be added to Island Health’s school exposure page to join two other Nanaimo schools.

Fairview is the other elementary school on the list. It’s also on the list for the first time.

Nanaimo District Secondary School, no stranger to Island Health’s exposure notice page, is the other SD68 school listed.

The Vancouver Island COVID Rapid Response team, headed by SD68 said in late March an increase in exposure events was likely following spring break.
