Island Health COVID-19 case count grows heading into September long weekend
NANAIMO — The Island Health region ended another week of the COVID-19 pandemic with two additional cases.
The new, active cases bring the health authorities total to 180 and are part of 121 new cases confirmed across B.C.
Thirty-one people are currently in hospital, of whom 12 are in intensive care units. The remainder of the 1,233 active cases in the province are recovering at home. Seven cases are active in the Island Health region.
Public health continues to actively monitor almost 2,800 people on a daily basis, a result of known exposure to a confirmed positive COVID-19 case. There are 6,162 total cases in B.C. during the pandemic.
