NANAIMO — A local woman now half a million dollars richer already has a few ideas to spend her new winnings, including a premium hair dryer.

Debra Allen bought her ticket at Nanaimo’s Super Save Gas on Bowen Rd. while on a coffee break at work and scanned her ticket.

Her co-workers were the first to find about her big win, according to a BC Lottery Corporation news release.

“They all started jumping up and down,” she recalled. “I guess I was in shock because my face was just blank.”

Despite the fact Allen has short hair, she still wants a ritzy hair dryer.

“I’m going to call my hairdresser right away and order one,” Allen told the BCLC.

Allen was one of two ticket-holders in B.C. to match the third set of seven numbers among 13 Maxmillions prizes from the July 28, 2020 Lotto Max draw.

Allen intends to invest in her upcoming retirement with her spouse, in addition to looking at the RV market since camping on Vancouver Island is one of her favourite pastimes.

Lotto luck has been in the air in Nanaimo for several years.

Allen becomes the 15th person to buy a lottery ticket in Nanaimo since 2012 worth at least $500,000
