Skeletal remains found near Port Place in downtown Nanaimo
NANAIMO — An investigation is underway following the discovery of a body in downtown Nanaimo overnight.
Police said the body found just off Front St. behind the transit loop at the south entrance to Port Place was discovered by an RDN Transit supervisor around 7 p.m. on Monday, June 29.
Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW police are currently conducting a grid search of the area for further information.
“It was basically found, skeletal remains. BC Coroners Service has been advised, we do not suspect foul play but it’s too early to rule that out,” O’Brien said.
