NANAIMO — Police are investigating a stabbing with limited details.

The incident allegedly occurred on Monday, April 27 sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on a stretch of road between Cedar Rd. and downtown Nanaimo, which is a significant distance.

Officers were first notified of the stabbing when they arrived at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and spoke to the victim.

“He was walking along the road way when he was approached by an unknown male, produced a knife and demanded that he turn over his personal items,” Cst. Gary O’Brien said.

The 20-year-old has numerous cuts and bruises as a result of a struggle and was treated for an apparent stab wound.

The suspect pedalled off in an unknown direction.

Despite having been stabbed, the victim apparently walked all the way to the hospital from south Nanaimo.

“Investigators recognize details are limited,” RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said. “However, this appears to be a significant incident that requires further investigation.”

The suspect is of medium build, was dressed in black and wore a bandana over the lower portion of his face during the attack.
