NANAIMO — An access point to a beloved north Nanaimo beach has been restored.

The City of Nanaimo’s manager of parks and operations Al Britton said their crews recently completed installing wooden stairs on the top half of the route to Blueback Beach.

The above-ground stairs replaces the steps encased into the top half of the hill at the bottom of Blueback Rd.

“It’s a long time coming,” Britton said. “We’ve adjusted the design and added hand rails, which I think people will appreciate.”
