It’s the spookiest time of the year and what better way to celebrate than getting a good scare on, or just having a fun time with your family. If you don’t know what to do or where to go, here are 8 things you won’t want to miss out on. From trains, to haunted houses to a 5k dash! It’s time for Halloween fun in the Nanaimo area this October!

BC Forest Discovery Centre Halloween Train

  • What: Ride the Green hornet train through family friendly ghostly scenes and past Halloween characters at the museum. Kids can enjoy trick or treating and making Halloween crafts, plus there’s haunted houses for those who dare!
  • Where: 2892 Drinkwater Road, Duncan, BC V9L 6C2
  • When: October 18-20 & October 25-30, 2018 3:30pm-9:00 pm, 2019
  • Cost: $12 Adults, Seniors 65+ and youth (13-18), $10 children (3-12) Children 2 and under FREE

Huard’s Haunted House

  • What: A full walk through experience where the strange Huard family will taunt you with your greatest fears! A truly scary experience not for the faint of heart, so much so, only visitors 7 years old and older may visit the haunt.
  • Where: 1702 Timberlands Rd, Ladysmith, BC
  • When: October 18-19 and October 21-31, 2019 6:00pm–10:00pm
  • Cost: Entrance fee is by donation, proceeds going to local charities.

Haunted Coal Mine – Murder Alley

  • What: Their coal mine has turned the dangerous underworld of Victorian London and it’s your task to explore it! You’ll shady characters, bloody brick walls and many scares!
  • Where: Nanaimo Museum. 100 Museum Way V9R 5J8
  • When: October 26, 2019 at 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Cost: Admission by donation.

Halloween in the OCQ

  • What: Full family fun at Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter. Enjoy a mini corn maze, trick or treating, a movie night and even a witch’s dance! A great place to trick or treat and have family fun.
  • Where: Old City Quarter, Nanaimo, BC
  • When: October 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, October 20 4:00pm – 6:00pm, October 26 11am-3pm.
  • Cost: Free of charge.

Halloween at The Halloween House

  • What: Visit their spooky cemetery open to kids during the day and those who dare during the night. Don’t miss their display that might give you nightmares.
  • Where: 803 Townsite Rd, Nanaimo, BC V9S 1L8
  • When: October 31, 2019 at 12:00pm – 10:31pm
  • Cost: Admission by donations which will go to local charities.

McNab’s Corn Maze

  • What: A 7-acre corn maze, massive pumpkin patch, a roadside produce stand, everything for full family fun in the country!
  • Where: 4613 Yellow Point Road, Yellow Point, BC
  • When: 7 days a week until October 31st, 2019
  • Cost: Adult pass $9 (14+), Children $6 (3-13), Children 2 and under are FREE.

Halloween on Duggan 2019

  • What: A truly spooky haunted house, bigger than ever. Some areas are uncovered so wear warm clothing and prepared to be scared!
  • Where: 2172 Duggan Road, Nanaimo, BC V9S 5L4
  • When: October 29-31, 2019 6:00pm-11:00pm
  • Cost: Admission by donation.

5k Monster Dash

  • What: Healthy Halloween! A family friendly charity. Prizes for best costumes, 1k options for kids, post run activities, treats, music and more!
  • Where: 100 Stewart Avenue, Nanaimo, BC
  • When: October 26, 2019 10:00am
  • Cost: $35 until October 23rd.
