NANAIMO — A slate of nine candidates are in contention to become the next Member of Parliament for Nanaimo-Ladysmith at October’s Federal Election.

Incumbent Green party MP Paul Manly will look to secure his first full term after winning the spring by-election. Many of the candidates who ran in that vote have returned to challenge again.

John Hirst (Conservative), Michelle Corfield (Liberal), Bob Chamberlin (NDP), Jennifer Clarke (People’s Party of Canada) and Brian Marlatt (PC Party) all featured in May, with Manly winning by just over 5000 votes.

Communist party’s James Chumsa along with independents Geoff Stoneman and Echo White complete the nine person field.
