NANAIMO — A machete wielding man pleaded guilty to a dangerous rampage in Parksville which forced a family to flee their home.

Robert Douglas Lightle, 45, is expected to be sentenced this fall after entering guilty pleas this week to six weapons and mischief related charges.

Armed with the large weapon, Lightle damaged an RV and then entered a nearby Allsbrook Rd. home on July 26, 2018.

Oceanside RCMP reported a mother and two young kids immediately left the home while Lightle jumped on the home’s roof prior to his arrest.

Lightle also damaged a nearby business in the outburst.

Police believed mental instability and drug use were factors behind his behaviour against a family he didn’t know.

Lightle also pleaded guilty to a pair of firearm offences for an earlier incident.

A pre-sentence report and psychiatric assessment will be presented prior to Lightle’s sentencing hearing at the Nanaimo court house.

He’s not in custody.

Lightle has no prior criminal convictions in B.C.
