Two taken to hospital after suspicious fire shakes Parksville

PARKSVILLE — A blaze and possible explosion has sent two people inside a Parksville cabin to hospital.

The fire broke out at the River Green Resort on Hwy. 19A near the Orange Bridge around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6.

Parksville Fire Department assistant chief Steve Leidl confirmed to NanaimoNewsNOW the two people inside the cabin were taken to hospital.

One person was airlifted to Victoria while the other received non-life threatening injuries.

The fire was limited to one cabin and took 45 minutes to extinguish.

Leidl said it is considered a suspicious fire.

Many people around Parksville online and on our social media pages reported hearing a loud explosion around the same time of the fire.
