NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Clippers have submitted their 109 page bid to Hockey Canada in the hopes of hosting the 2021 National Junior A Hockey Championship.

April 30 the club is doing a social media blitz to try to create awareness about the bid, and to show Hockey Canada that Nanaimo is behind the Clippers in their efforts to host the national championship for the first time since 1998.

The Clippers encourage fans to write messages of support on facebook and twitter while tagging Hockey Canada and hashtagging #Nanaimo2021.

They also want members of the community to pose for a photo in front of their banner at Woodgrove Shopping Centre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Tuesday.

In exchange the Clippers are offering a pair of tickets to a hockey game next season.

Hockey Canada will get a hold of the finalists for the 2021 championship in the next couple of weeks and do site visits shortly after that.

The Clippers will know by the end of the summer if they will be the hosts for the May 2021 event.
