Nanaimo man dies after motorcycle crashes into minivan on Hammond Bay

NANAIMO — A Nanaimo man is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed the motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, died in hospital and the investigation is in its early stages.

Nanaimo RCMP Cpl. Terry Crawford told NanaimoNewsNOW the motorcyclist was heading west along Hammond Bay Rd. around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, towards Woodgrove Centre, when he hit a minivan pulling out of the library parking lot.

Crawford said it’s too early to say who was at fault, no tickets were issued and no charges are pending at this time.
