Nanaimo Clippers hand out team awards
NANAIMO — The Clippers are heading to the playoffs, but the final act of the regular season was to hand out the 2017-18 team awards.
A packed room of fans, volunteers, billets, parents, and sponsors filled the Beban Park Social Centre to recognize some of the key team and individual accomplishments.
There were 15 awards handed out, a few speeches, and a tribute to the Clippers graduating 20-year-olds.
A topsy-turvy season included an ownership change, a coaching change, a seven game losing streak, and ultimately a ten game winning streak that included Nanaimo’s last game against Surrey with nearly 1800 people in attendance at Frank Crane Arena.
