Nanaimo Clippers expand their marketing department
NANAIMO — The Clippers aren’t wasting any time getting more boots on the ground in the community.
Nanaimo’s Junior A Hockey team has announced three new staff members, who will be working with the club on a mostly incentive basis.
Kait Burgan is a well known former host on Shaw TV, Phil Clark is a one time owner of the Corner Lounge, and Samantha McLean is finishing up a marketing degree at Vancouver Island University.
The trio will work on a number of marketing efforts including group sales, game day events, and social media campaigns.
Clippers Business Operations Manager Andrea Trepanier says interest has been steady in people joining the Clippers Hockey Society as well.
“Every day we have people coming into the office to make contributions, anywhere from five dollars to $1,000 to $2,500,” said Trepanier. “I’m so moved by the support we have already garnered from the community. Every little bit helps and we have a goal – we want to hit a million dollars because that’s what it cost us to purchase the team.”
The Clippers intend to roll out another phase of their community ownership plan in mid May.
There will also be further additions within the office and on the media side, which may end up being on a volunteer basis.
