Local short film fest has record-breaking year
NANAIMO — What started as a local short film festival has expanded to one of worldwide renown having its most successful year ever.
This year, 112 films were submitted for the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival, which is 50 more than last year.
Coordinator Greg Brown said they weren’t prepared for the turnout and diversity this year but it was a pleasant and most welcome surprise.
He said it’s an exciting place for film makers to screen their work because they sell out the theatre, unlike most short film festivals which have smaller audiences.
