Parksville’s Goodfellow has strong showing at Future Links Pacific Championship

CHILLIWACK — A golfer from the mid-island had an impressive showing at the Future Links Pacific Championship over the weekend.
 
Aidan Goodfellow of Parksville finished in a tie for sixth place with a score of -5 for the tournament.
 
The 17-year-old shot rounds of 71, 70 and 70 at the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club.
 
Goodfellow was the only local player on the junior boys side of the event, but Vancouver Island golfers dominated the top ten on the leaderboard.
 
Victoria’s Jeevan Sihota won the tournament by shooting -10 and Tristan Mandur of Mill Bay was tied for second at -9.
 
Other Victoria golfers Keaton Gudz and Nolan Thoroughgood finished fifth and eighth respectively.
 
On the the junior girls side of the draw Nanaimo’s Shirin Anjarwalla was the only mid-islander in the field. She finished in a tie for 26th place after shooting a +28.
 
The Future Links Championship was the third tournament of the season for the 17-year-old, who finished 10th at a UBC tournament in April, and 12th at a Surrey event in March.
