Hydro offers interest-free payment plans after spike in winter usage

BURNABY — BC Hydro customers will have some extra time to pay off this winter’s higher-than-usual electricity bills.
The utility has announced a special winter payment plan that will allow users to spread payments over a six-month period.
The unusually cold weather has seen electricity consumption reach record levels.
The winter billing period runs from Dec. 1 to March 31. A Hydro official confirms there will be no interest applied to the outstanding balance as people pay off the total.
